The Móra la Nova Railway Museum is housed in the town’s railway complex. Visitors to the Museum have the chance to discover historic railway installations, the Direct Line still linking Barcelona and Madrid, and train culture in the broader sense.
One of the Museum’s key attractions is its collection of railway rolling stock, including everything from a 19th-century steam locomotive to the most contemporary exhibits. Most of these trains are in operational condition, and run on specific dates along the Museum’s 2 km internal track.
The facility also preserves what was one of the first electro-mechanical traffic control systems, and a 23-metre turntable used to change the locomotive’s direction.
The Museum is managed by the Foundation for the Preservation of Rail and Industrial Heritage, and is a leading institution in terms of restoring trains and offering rides on its internal track.
