Standing in the city of Manresa, inside one of the huge water tanks of the 19th century, the Water and Textile Museum presents two of the region’s most important single-subject collections: the first connected with the mediaeval Séquia de Manresa canal, and the second, covering the evolution of the ribbon industry, the thin strips of fabric that revolutionised the economy of Manresa and Central Catalonia in the era of industrialisation.
Beyond the Museum, the Can Font Water Centre, Infoséquia, the Casa de la Culla and the Séquia canal itself serve as cultural sites and facilities offering a glimpse into the importance of water for the human development of past, present and future societies, through its different uses: at home, the industry and for irrigation.
