Catalan Railway Museum, Vilanova i la Geltrú

The Railway Museum of Catalonia is housed at the former steam locomotive depot in Vilanova i la Geltrú, alongside the station. The facility began as a rail industry site, before becoming a museum in the 21st century, offering a train journey through time courtesy of innovative formats.

The Museum features exhibits, buildings, documents and intangible reminiscences to present the continuing story of human innovation in rail transport, along with its transformative effects in many spheres over the course of history.

The buildings that make up the Museum date from different eras, from the 19th century down to the present day. The striking semicircular building known as the ‘Rotunda’ is home to the most valuable trains.

The collection comprises vehicles of different types and periods, as well as other railway exhibits, and a first-class historical documentation and photography archive.
