Restored vintage trains from the historic collection of trains belonging to Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) from former train companies and in use as part of a regular service or as requested, depending on particular cases.

The visit

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya offers visitors the experience of travelling in vintage trains from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, perfectly conserved and very close to the original in appearance. In the second half of the nineteenth century and first third of the twentieth century, railways were very important for the cities and towns which progressively joined the contemporary world born from the industrial revolution. Railways, reaching the heart of the country, facilitated communications and have been decisive in the industrialization of Catalonia. Now you can once again use these trains to relive an era of transport that was replaced by another at that point.


The historic trains of FGC find their origin in different railway lines which make up the current network of FGC. The Barcelona-Vallès line still conserves a type-400 electric train from Ferrocarriles de Cataluña, S.A. which circulated between the 1940s and 1990s.

On the Llobregat-Anoia line,  there are wooden carriages from the Compañía General de Ferrocarriles Catalanes, S.A. which circulated between the late nineteenth century and the 1970s.

On the Lleida – Pobla de Segur (Train of the Lakes) line the type 5000 and 6000 metal carriages from Renfe, which circulated between the 1950s and 1980s, are conserved.

On the Núria rack line the A-51 saloon car from 1931, and the cable car inaugurated in Gelida in 1924 are also conserved.
