The Museum of Oil of Catalonia, in Granadella (Garrigues), is now part of the Regional Structure of the Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (MNACTEC).
With this addition there are now 28 museums and centres of heritage interest making up the Regional Structure of the MNACTEC, a unique museum proposal which explains the different aspects and processes of Catalan industrial society both throughout the region and in the places in which they have been unique and most significant.
The Museum of Oil of Catalonia
The Museum of Oil of Catalonia, along with the Catalan Oil Culture Centre (CCOC), makes Granadella a social and heritage point of reference of oil culture for both the people and territory, starting from its oldest production systems, through the entire process of technological evolution all the way to the most modern and innovative advances.
The Museum is located in the mill of the Granadella Cooperative, which was built with the support of the Commonwealth of Catalonia in 1920, and is one of the oldest and best preserved oil mills in Catalonia. The mill can now be visited following the careful process of documentation, inventory and restoration of all elements of heritage interest, accompanied by comprehensive museological and museographical information.
